Journal of what was done for the reception of the king in his city of Metz, on August 4, 1744. With a collection of documents on the same subject, and on the accidents that occurred during his stay. Metz, Veuve de Pierre Collignon, 1744. In-folio, speckled calf, spine decorated, spotted edges (period binding). Unique edition of this rare and beautiful festive book, dedicated to the reception given by the city of Metz in honor of Louis XV, who came to help Alsace threatened by the troops of Prince Charles Alexander of Lorraine, in the context of the War of the Austrian Succession. Eight beautiful folding plates, etched by F.-L. Mangin, show the ceremonies, decorations, triumphal arches, emblems and medals made by the city to celebrate the king's entry. A very nice copy. Small worm gallery on the second plate, cut in the fold of plate n°8, small stains on p. 65. Cohen, 522 - Vinet, n°521 - Ruggieri, n°573 - Watanabe-O'Kelly, n°2084.
