Les Familles de la France illustrées par les monumens des médailles anciennes et modernes, tirées des plus rares et curieux cabinets du royaume, sur les métaux d'or, d'argent et de bronze. Paris, chez l'auteur & Pierre Rocollet, 1634. In-folio, soft vellum (Binding of the time). Rare first edition. The illustration consists of an allegorical title-frontispiece, a plate relating to the dimensions of the medals and 44 full-page plates of numismatics, by the Flemish engraver Jacques de Bie. The medals are ordered by ecclesiastical and civil dignities: popes, cardinals, princes and great lords, chancellors, guardians of the seals, parliamentarians and provosts of the merchants. This work forms the third part of La France métallique by the Flemish engraver Jacques de Bie, the first two parts of which were reduced to a series of plates devoted to the kings and queens of France. A fine copy, with large margins, in contemporary vellum. From the library of the counts of Cossé-Brissac at the castle of Crépan, with bookplate. Slightly missing at the spine. M.-C. Canova-Green, " Du cabinet au livre d'histoire ", Dix-septième siècle, 2011/1, pp. 157-170.
