Œuvres d'architecture, contenant les principaux bâtimens civils, hidrauliques et mécaniques qu'il a fait exécuter en France et dans les pays étrangers, gravés en taille douce par les plus habiles maîtres. Paris, Pierre Patte, 1753. Large folio, half green basane with corners, spine decorated, marbled edges (Modern binding). Sumptuous edition of the architectural works of Germain Boffrand (1667-1754), first architect of Leopold I of Lorraine, published by his student, the architect and engraver Pierre Patte (1723-1814). The text consists of a title and 4 pp. engraved in intaglio, decorated with a header by François Boucher engraved by Cochin, a vignette and a cul-de-lampe by Pierre Patte. At the end of the work, the explanation of the hydraulic works occupies 3 pp. printed in typography. The work contains 60 architectural plates, mostly double-page or folding. (The explanation of the plates mentions 63 because the engravings B4 and B6 are attached, O2 and O3 also, and G3 and G4 drawn on the same plate). These plans, sections, elevations and decorative details engraved after the drawings of Germain Boffrand describe the castle of Bouchefort, the palace of Nancy, La Malgrange, the castle of Lunéville, the palace of Würzburg, the hotels of Craon, Montmorency, Argenson and Soubise, the portals of La Merci, Petit Luxembourg and the hotel of Villars, the well of Bicêtre and the bridges of Sens and Montereau-Fault-Yonne. Three slightly yellowed plates.
