Rare jug. England, mid-19th century.
Silver worked in relief.
Weight: 195 gr.
With London contrasts on the base.
Measurements: 9 x 11 x 8 cm.
The one we now present is a jug whose particularity lies in the profuse decoration in relief that ornaments practically its entire body. It depicts a scene of the English countryside with three figures resting next to the trunk of a sturdy tree. The piece is raised on vegetalised legs from which emerge garlands of rosettes. The sinuous profile of the base harmonises with the scroll of the handle, which folds back with vegetal-inspired sheathed motifs.
