European school; 20th century. "Lady on horseback". Bronze. Measurements: 45 x 52 x 11 cm. Figure made in bluing bronze that represents in a truthful and realistic way a lady rider on her horse. The animal of imposing anatomy maintains a serene strolling position, while the completely resting lady sits in profile, following the usual way of the horsewomen, but with her body twisted directing her sight backwards. This type of small-format bronze figures proliferated during the 19th and 20th centuries, as they were very much to the taste of the bourgeoisie, who found in these works an approach to the arts, hitherto reserved only for those belonging to the upper classes.
