Late Gothic chalice
Silver; gilded. Six-pass foot; the frame with openwork foliage. Three passports with engraved depictions of Our Lady with the Christ Child, St. Elizabeth and St. John. The three opposite passports with a sculpted corpus of Christ between two enameled armorial panels, on the left with a golden lion on a red background, on the right with a double cross. Between two six-sided shafts the depressed nodus with engraved fish bubbles and tracery; the rotuli decorated with vine work alternating with Gothic minuscules. The conical dome in a basket with tracery cuff. Losses to the enamel and to the vine work of the frame. Prussian free stamp for church utensils from 1809 (Rosenberg no. 4425); otherwise unmarked. H 18,8 cm, weight 410 g.
Probably Slovakia, early 16th century.
