Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849) after , Mount Fuji seen from the tea plantation of Katakura in the province of Suruga , Japan , Print from the series of "36 views of Fuji" - Fugaku sanjûrokkei. Size of the sheet : 19 x 26,7 cm + frame.
This scene illustrates the activity of the tea plantation of Katakura and its very rational organization. Groups of women are picking leaves, while others are resting on a bench, before resuming work. Large round hats protect them from the sun and bad weather. In the foreground, workers carry the recent harvest, while a man tries to restrain a recalcitrant horse. The outline of snow-covered Mount Fuji in the distance stands out against the fog banks. In this composition, Hokusai demonstrates his familiarity with Western perspective.
