Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849) after ,Rice fields of Ôno in the province of Suruga ,Japan, Print from the series of "36 views of Fuji" - Fugaku sanjûrokkei. Size of the sheet : 19 x 26,7 cm + frame. In the foreground of the print, five oxen are carrying voluminous bundles of rushes, led by peasants. The women carry very heavy loads on their backs, probably the fruit of the harvest. The dissipation of the fog and the light flight of the egrets contribute to create a contrast with the first scene. The elegant silhouette of Fuji in the distance, rising above the mist, gives the scene a great serenity.
