History
"François I, being in Amboise, imagined, among the entertainments he wanted to give to the Ladies, to have one of the most enormous boars of the forest taken alive. This animal, which had been brought into the courtyard of the castle, became furious because of the little stings and the straw plugs that were thrown at it from the windows, climbed the grand staircase and broke down the door of the apartment where the ladies were. François I forbade anyone to approach, waited for the beast, thrust his cutlass into its head between the eyes, and when it fell, turned it over on the other side by force of wrist: this Prince was then only twenty-one years old" (extract from Œuvres complètes de M. de Saint-Foix, Historiographe des Ordres du Roi, 1778, t. IV, éd. Dufour, p. 134).
