On the back a handwritten paper of the period: "This drawing made with a pen was taken from the original portrait contained in an engraved plate of the royal riding school of Pluvinel where King Louis XIII is represented riding a horse in the pillars: behind the king the lord of Mesmon on foot touching the rump of the horse with the geaulle.
