An antique 19th-century Meissen porcelain cup and saucer decorated with gilt trim and silhouette medallions of Alfred Graf Schlieffen and Anna Schlieffen. The cup features a crossed swords mark in blue underglaze, the sauser also marked and inscribed on the bottom: "Alfred Graf Schlieffen n. 28.II.1833, Anna Grafin Schlieffen n. 2.X.1840 - 13.VII.1872." Alfred Graf von Schlieffen, generally called Count Schlieffen (1833 – 1913), was a German field marshal and strategist who served as chief of the Imperial German General Staff from 1891 to 1906.
