The present depiction forms the final leaf of a six-part series "The Story of Sorgeloos", which warns against a boisterous and carefree life with moralizing scenes. Sorgeloos experiences opulence and comfort with his friends, enjoys extensively, carouses, dances and celebrates. Seduced by gambling, he loses all his possessions and companions. Eventually, only the personifications of poverty and barrenness join him, and prepare a simple meal with Sorgeloos in the kitchen. - Excellent impression, only minimally omitting in a few places, trimmed close to the image, without the ornamental framing. Minimally spotted, a few imperceptibly mended areas, otherwise a very good copy. Of great rarity. From the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, with their doublet stamp (Lugt 2228 and Lugt 698).
