Facsimile volume bound in red velvet with four silver gilt bindings on the corners (excellent condition). Text volume bound in red cloth. Both volumes are preserved in a plexiglass slipcase. Jacques Bruyant was a royal notary at the Châtelet of Paris and the author in the 14th century of this work called Livre de Chastel de Labour or The Way of Poverty and Wealth. The Philadelphia manuscript (Free Library, Widener 1) contains 46 paintings, admirably reproduced here. It is the only manuscript of this illuminated text.
