A lieutenant general's MVSN cap of Luigi Russo
dating: 1936 provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Made of white fabric with front, gilded-thread decoration on a red background, black fabric band with gilded-thread ranks. Brown sweat-band inside and summer lining with label of the S. V. Presciutti hat shop in Rome. Very rare. Luigi Russo (Verona 1882 - Rome 1964) took part in World War I, winning two silver medals for Military Valour. In 1922 he joined the P.N.F. and was 'Podestà' of Udine and Prefect ofChieti, La Spezia and Forli. In1923 he was Consul of the M.V.S.N., in 1929 he became Consul General and from January 1936 Lieutenant General, in 1935 he was Chief of Staff of the Militia until 1939. In 1943 he became Senator of the Kingdom. After the War, he was relieved of all his positions. height 14.5 cm.
