In 1919, the Banat, the southeastern part of the Pannonian Basin, the plains between the eastern Alps and the Carpathians, was divided between Hungary, Romania and Yugoslavia. In the depopulated village of La Roque sur Pernes, a community of Banatais was welcomed and established itself.
