Rare pair of flat-backed marquises in molded, carved and gilded beechwood decorated with ribboned rushes, large water leaves and pearls; the acanthus-leafed armrests; the channel brackets ending in rounded rosette dice; tapered legs with rings, channels and foliage hooves. Marks to the fire of the castle of Versailles.

Probably commissioned as a continuation of the furniture acquired by order of the Baron de Breteuil by the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne and delivered by the upholsterer Capin in 1783 for the Palace of Versailles.
