Important covered box in cinnabar lacquer
mounted on a foot, of four-lobed shape with a gadrooned wall, presenting a rich decoration carved in relief in the different layers of lacquer. The lid presents a stylized medallion "shou" character decoration around which bats are flying among peony flowers, within a cartouche formed by a frieze of Greek figures taking the form of four intertwined ruyi heads. On the sides, a decoration of flowered vases accompanied by various objects of scholars in quadrangular cartridges on a background of abundant floral scrolls. The foot and the edges of the lid are underlined by Greek friezes. The interior and the underside black lacquered. With adapted wooden base.

Wear, lack of material on the edges of the lid, slight restoration at the foot, cracks.
