CHINE, XVIIIe siècle Important covered box in cinnabar lacquer mounted on a foot, of four-lobed shape with a gadrooned wall, presenting a rich decoration carved in relief in the different layers of lacquer. The lid presents a stylized medallion "shou" character decoration around which bats are flying among peony flowers, within a cartouche formed by a frieze of Greek figures taking the form of four intertwined ruyi heads. On the sides, a decoration of flowered vases accompanied by various objects of scholars in quadrangular cartridges on a background of abundant floral scrolls. The foot and the edges of the lid are underlined by Greek friezes. The interior and the underside black lacquered. With adapted wooden base. Height : 24 cm Width : 29 cm Wear, lack of material on the edges of the lid, slight restoration at the foot, cracks.
