Viole d'amour with sculpted neck featuring a veiled female figure. Finished under the direction of G. Bernardel, 4 Passage Saulnier, Paris. The instrument belonged to Jules Boucherit, professor at the Conservatoire, great friend of Fauré and member of a famous quartet.
According to family lore, Marcel Proust used to calm his asthma attacks simply by listening to a few pieces played by the quartet.
