Utrecht 1740. 12° full contemporary calf, 3 pages, 600 pp. 1 page (manuscript). Collection of authentic pieces related to Port-Royal, taken from manuscripts. The pieces are very diverse, with only a general disclaimer, deliberately brief and unapologetic. They include legal documents and interrogations, memoirs and letters by well-known and lesser-known figures from the abbey, all of which are intended not only to defend Jansenism, but also to illustrate the history of Port-Royal. Good overall condition, lacking the blank leaf preceding the title, one in-fine manuscript leaf concerning this work.
