NOTE
A painter born in Shenyang, Fanfan Li studied with the greatest masters. She moved to New York in 1986 and, in parallel with her artistic research, pursued a career as a jewelry designer in New York, Rome and Paris. Since 2002, she has lived in Paris and devoted herself to her painting. She has undertaken to give a universal translation to the symbolic register of Chinese painting, thus opening up the field of modernity.
Her vision: "Art illuminates the world of French luxury. An emblem of lightness, an expression of fragile, sublime nature, the butterfly is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels. The lotus symbolizes purity, incorruptibility and elevation, even though it originates in a muddy pond. The carp is discreet, symbolizing life, fertility and wealth. The painting is executed using traditional techniques on rice paper, with brushwork and Chinese ink, and pigments made from precious minerals.
