LATLAS MODERNE, ou Collection de cartes sur toutes les parties du globe terrestre par plusieurs auteurs. Paris, Lattré et Delalain, s.d. (1771?). In-folio, marbled calf, six-ribbed spine decorated (period binding).
Cohen, 105 / Phillips, I. 646.
Engraved title-frontispiece by Prévost after Monnet, 2 engraved leaves for the warning and table, a double plate of sphere and compass, and 72 double-page maps mounted on tabs, engraved by Janvier, Bonne and Rizzi-Zannoni with colored outlines.
This atlas had been designed by Lattré and Delalain to offer users maximum information in a more convenient format than the large folio. A first suite of 36 maps appeared in 1762, with an engraved title. Given the success of the work, the editors published a new edition with the same title, the original 36 plates and 38 additional plates.
A fine copy, despite a small loss on the spine of the binding.
