The miniatures currently attributed to Daniel Chodowiecki in Polish museums are so different in style from one another that it is difficult to identify a single hand. We therefore lack an in-depth study of his work as a miniaturist. Chodowiecki was first and foremost an engraver, and some of the miniatures attributed to him are painted in a regular "pointillé", close to that of the engraver. This miniature features stippling for the entire background, flesh shadows and costume. It can be compared with one by Primate Gabriel Podoski (1717-1777) on vellum, signed "D. Chodowiecki pinxt", said to have been produced in 1773 (Ossolineum, Wroclaw).
