Léon Creissels acquired this miniature as a "presumed portrait of Talma's sister". Anne Euphrasine Talma (1773-1868), sister of the famous actor François-Joseph Talma, was the wife of academician painter Jean-Louis Ducis. This young woman bears a certain resemblance to Talma's mistress of 1812, Pauline Bonaparte Princesse Borghese (1780-1825).
