The perfect choice The model Triumph is aptly named, having practically invented the economical sports convertible segment. The entire TR range, which ran from 1950 to 1981, defended this positioning. The TR2 opened the ball in 1950, followed by the TR3 in October 1955. In fact, the two models are closely related, since they share the same design and engine. You could say that the TR3 is a refined, improved TR2. Its chassis has been reworked to make up for the TR2's biggest shortcoming. This TR3 offers a typically British combination of a rather plush interior with leather and chrome, but with a sporty spirit that is palpable in the numerous meters and the contrasting center stack. On the sporty side, the TR3 relies on its 2-liter 4-cylinder engine developing 95 hp. Weighing in at around 900 kgs, the Triumph is no slouch when it comes to sporty sensations, especially on twisty roads thanks to its torque. Produced from 1955 to 1962, it ensured the success of the British manufacturer. Over 90% of production was exported to the USA. For a long time, it was the favorite sports car of drivers, who could take it to the track, shine in competitions and come home with their hair blowing in the wind. 1956 saw the appearance of the TR3 A version, which benefited from a second exhaust silencer and, above all, new front disc brakes. This was a first for a British production model. In 1957, the front end evolved, with the grille taking on its full width. The engine, meanwhile, reached 100 hp. This Triumph TR3 is the archetypal pleasure car, simple yet terribly endearing. The model This 1959 Triumph TR3 convertible has 1,770 km on its 5-figure odometer. The vehicle is of average appearance, and has undergone various bodywork and paintwork of summary quality. Vehicle identification is in accordance with the documents. The paintwork has been repainted, but needs to be revised. Note the presence of numerous appearance defects in various areas of the bodywork (graining, blisters, visible repairs, corrosion, etc.). We are in possession of a maintenance and repair invoice for 2020, showing numerous points taken up to a value of €6,600. Maintenance and renovation work have also been carried out. The days and flushes of the bodywork elements are not homogeneous. The front end has also been repaired. The side members are visibly deformed. The trunk compartment is free of visible deformation or perforating corrosion. The windscreen is in standard condition, as is the soft top (normal wear). The interior and instrumentation are complete. Interior trim and carpets show some signs of wear. Leatherette upholstery is in standard condition. The mechanical assembly requires a general overhaul. The vehicle exhibits strong drift under braking. The engine is powered by SU carburetors. The engine number recorded is *CT27154E*. We placed the vehicle on an elevator. The lower front of the vehicle shows the after-effects of minor repairs. The rocker panels show corrosion, which needs to be treated. The rear of the vehicle shows the after-effects of minor repairs and residual deformation. The chassis has been visibly repaired in the past. The powertrain has no obvious visual defects (apart from a leak). The running gear shows no abnormal play or visible deformation (although some silentblocs are showing advanced wear). The spoked rims are in good visual condition. The 165R15 tires are in good visual condition, but show some wear. It should be noted that these components were manufactured in 2005 (we strongly advise their replacement for safety reasons).
