The presidential car The model With this model, we enter a world apart, that of pre-war luxury cars. This is due as much to the bodywork as to the technical solutions. Indeed, Panhard & Levassor, manufacturer of horse-drawn carriages, then of Daimler engines under license, entered the big time in 1910. Between 1913 and 1920, Panhard & Levassor was the official brand for vehicles used by the President of the Republic under the mandate of Raymond Poincaré. At the same time, the brand invested in motor racing to demonstrate its know-how, and its successes helped to fill its order book. The first model to be produced in this 6 series featured a 3,507 cm³, in-line, valve-less 6-cylinder engine. This type of motorization was extremely quiet and vibration-free. Panhard & Levassors equipped with such engines were produced from 1910 to 1940. The model we're interested in here was produced in a variety of body styles. There was a classic 6-seater sedan with a long interior and no luggage compartment, and a 4-seater sedan with a more traditional interior and a rear luggage compartment, as well as various coupes and cabriolets, including the cabriolet version with passengers seated in a special compartment that could be closed on occasion. The model This 1932 Panhard & Levassor 6DS is in good overall condition and was restored in 2012 (invoice not present). This is a rare X66 220hp 6DS cabriolet version produced in 509 examples. It was restored for around €190,000 inc. VAT, according to the description provided. Its history is well known. It was sold to Baron Brincart, director of Crédit Lyonnais in the 1930s, with the original aluminum hood option. It remained in the same family until the Second World War. It was transformed into a van to help the war effort. Returning to its original van body condition, it was bought back in 2012 by the previous owner. He called in the firm M. Carrat, in Belmont de la Loire, to carry out a major body restoration just after his purchase. As the vehicle was complete and original, the previous owner decided to completely strip down the vehicle and bodywork. Respecting the original specifications, the body is fixed on a beech frame. The previous owner's intention was to respect the manufacturing methods of the time, to bring it up to standard and to overhaul the engine and electrical circuits. On board, the previous owner won numerous elegance titles, including the Paris-Deauville historic rally prize in 2015 and the bodywork prize at the Concours de la Baule in 2016. The vehicle's identification is consistent with the elements presented. The Jaeger odometer shows 07,872 Km (5-digit counter). The paintwork has been refurbished. There are some minor defects in appearance in various areas of the bodywork. The bodywork elements are homogeneous in terms of daylight and flush. The vehicle is fitted with aluminum hoods. The windscreen is in good condition. Chromes are in good condition (slightly pitted). The bumper is oxidized. The interior and instrumentation are in good condition and functional. Interior trim and carpets are in good condition. The red leather upholstery is in good condition. The mechanical assembly is in good working order, as demonstrated by a dynamic test. Engine levels are correct. The wiring harness is in good visual condition. The vehicle has been fitted with an alternator. The vehicle has been placed on an elevator. The underbody and floorboards are free from perforating corrosion or apparent deformation. One chassis bolt is missing. The original fuel pump has been replaced by a contemporary model. The exhaust outlet is damaged. The powertrain has no obvious visual defects (apart from a leak). The running gear shows no abnormal play or visible deformation. The left rear leaf spring is damaged, with a broken upper leaf. The wheels are in good visual condition. Note the presence of the spare wheel.
