Two folio pages, address, seal with arms under paper (foxing, some minor repairs); in Italian.
Marguerite of Austria [Audenarde, 1522 - Ortona, 1586], Duchess of Parma; natural daughter of Charles V. She married Alexandre de Médicis (1510 - 1537) in 1536 and Ottavio Farnese duke of Parma (1524 - 1586) in 1538. She was governess of the Spanish Netherlands (1559 - 1567).
She tells him of her arrival on Midsummer's Day, and would like to be informed about matters of state. She knew that his affairs in Rome were in great disarray. She urged him to come by land or sea to Venice, and then from Venice to Piacenza, bringing him money.
