First edition. Interesting collection of biographical, critical, historical and literary notes on around one hundred important figures in the intellectual life of the 17th and 18th centuries. The first volume is a reprint of D'Alembert's "Eloges de plusieurs savants". The following 5 volumes were edited by Condorcet after D'Alembert's death.
Pale staining at the head of the fifth volume, more pronounced on some twenty leaves, some rubbing and staining to the bindings, small split at the end of the lower spine of the third volume.
