TRUFFAUT FRANÇOIS: (1932-1984) French film Director. One of the main figures of the French New Wave and an icon of the French film industry. A very good content A.L.S., `F.Truffaut´, two pages, to an oblong 5.5 x 4 personal printed stationery card, n.p., n.d. [1962], to a playwright critic, in French. A bold black ink autograph letter by Truffaut referring to his film Jules et Jim (1962), and states in part `Vous remercie pour vos compliments à propos de l´interview de ''France-Observateur'' Déjà, du temps de mon travail à ''Arts-Spectacles'' vous m´aviez félicité pour un article, à propos de Géant, je crois´ (Translation: `Thank you for your compliments regarding the interview given to ''France-Observateur''. Already during my time working at ''Arts-Spectacles'' you congratulated me for an article, about Giant, I believe´) Truffaut further refers to his recent film, stating `J´espère que vous prendrez du plaisir à Jules et Jim. Mois aussi je vous lis et de plus en plus attentivement car je commence à bien aimer le theatre; je vais aller voir, vous m´en avez convaincu, Les Béhoènes d´ici peu´ (Translation: `I hope you will enjoy Jules and Jim. I also read your articles more and more attentively because I begin to like the theater very much; I'm going to go and attend soon, you convinced me, the performance Les Béhoènes´) Very small tear to the right edge, otherwise VG Truffaut refers to his article about George Stevens´ film Giant (1956) with Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, James Dean and Carroll Baker in the main roles. Truffaut wrote about the film `Stupide et solennel… trois heures et vingt minutes d´ennui mortel, teinté de dégoût´ (Translation `Stupid and solemn… three hours and twenty minutes of mortal boredom, tinged with disgust´)
