Six bottles of Viña Pomal, Bodegas Bilbao, Gran Reserva 1964. Category: Red wine. D.O.C. Rioja. Level: B-C-D. Bodegas Bilbaínas is the oldest bottling company in La Rioja, and its origins date back to 1859, when the famous Barrio de la Estación in Haro began to host what would become the pioneering firms of Rioja wine. For more than a century, this winery has produced wines that are the maximum expression of La Rioja, reflecting the tradition of the area. Its most characteristic grape is Tempranillo, although Graciano also plays a leading role. They are wines that spend long periods of maturation in American oak barrels, and a shorter time in the bottle. The result is elegant wines, smooth and round on the palate, with subtle, delicate and evolved aromas in which dry fruits and tertiary aromas predominate.
