Eight bottles of La Rioja Alta Reserva 890, Gran Reserva 1970. Category: Red wine. D.O. Rioja. Level: A-B. Reserva 890 belongs to the Gran Selección de La Rioja Alta, and is made from Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo, in small batches which, after long ageing, are reduced to about seven thousand numbered bottles per vintage. The Sociedad Vinícola de La Rioja Alta was founded in 1890 in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro. In these early years, the Frenchman Vigier was hired to take charge of the technical management, and soon the winemaking process that we now call classic was mastered. In 1891, the company was renamed La Rioja Alta. Today, the company continues to defend the initial idea of its foundation, jealously preserving the creative and enterprising spirit of its founders. It maintains a great respect for its history and philosophy, something that can be seen not only in the way it makes wine, but also in its brands, its close relationship with the city of Haro and its permanent dynamism.
