Raoul LARCHE (1860-1912) Loïe Fuller Lamp-sculpture in bronze with golden patina Siot-Decauville fondeur (period sand casting and original gilding) Signed on base H: 33 ; W: 17 ; D: 14 cm Note: This lamp, one of a series of seven, was inspired by the famous American dancer Mary Louis Fuller, known as Loïe Fuller (1862-1925), renowned for the veils she twirled in her choreographies.Spinning on a square of glass lit from below, sculpted by the beams of multiple side spotlights, drowned in streams (sometimes hundreds of meters) of light fabric, the young woman, metamorphosed by color, fills the stage space with her luminous forms in motion. Mallarmé described her as "intoxicated with art and, at the same time, an industrial achievement".
