Officer's sword from the Consulat period, curved blade with throat and flat back, counter-edge in the last quarter, blade retaining all its original polish, unmarked and unsigned. Gilt-bronze mounting, short-tailed conical cap, melon-cut top with prominent rivet knob, single guard limb joining the pommel by an arched concave strand, guard limb lightened on the sides and front face by a concave gutter, basal half auricle with floral decoration, quillon arched forward as a flower bud, flat face. Ebony spindle with squared sides and smooth edge highlighted with two lines (slight crack). In its brass scabbard, brass bowl, asymmetrical steel stinger, two wide bracelets with brass rings, the front of the scabbard bears some fine floral engravings and motifs on the bracelets evoking a spider's web (Imperial Guard?). The scabbard has been bent and straightened at the lower strap, which does not prevent the blade from sliding freely in the scabbard.
