On carnelian, depicting a gryllos. The hybrid creature consists of a satyr's head surmounted by a horned elephant's head and attached to a peacock protome, a ram's head and a snake. It stands on two bird legs. The ram is chewing on branches, while the peacock is holding a lizard in its beak, facing an insect. Rare iconography. Extraordinary composition of great stylistic quality. Signs of wear and slightly chipped edge.
