BROCHURE 18 ct. gold, set with a large cameo on two layers of agate, depicting the head of an antique-style woman. Her hair is composed of long curly locks, pulled back into a low bun and held in place by a double ribbon. She is adorned with earrings and a necklace. These features recall the portraits of the beautiful nymph Arethusa found on Syracuse coins of the Greek period. 40 x 48 mm; 30.4 g. 19th century. A 19th century gold brooch set with a large agate cameo depicting head of a woman after the Antique, showing similar features with the famous nymph Arethusa fromthe Syracuse coinage fromthe Greek period.
