RARE HEB SED CELEBRATION PLAQUE In glazed earthenware. Rectangular plaque commemorating the Sed or hed-sed festival. On one side: series of three standing, naked Bees. On the other: Double representation of Pharaoh. On the left, he wears the crown of Lower Egypt, on the right the crown of Upper Egypt, Hedjet. In the field, cartouche aunomde Menkheperrê (Thoutmosis III). On either side, the falcon god Horus, transmitting millions of years to the pharaoh, and above, the winged solar disk. Missing on one side. 35 x 50 mm. Egypt, Late Period, 7th-6th century B.C. Comparandum: See the evocation of the double coronation during the Sed-festival of Sesostris III. The years of reign (palms) are given by the ensigns of Horus and Set - 12th dynasty. Provenance: Monaco, private collection of Madame V., assembled in the 60s and 90s. An Egyptian faience glazed Heb-Sed plaque with cartouche of Tutmosis III. Late Period, 7th-6th century B.C.
