AN IMARI ‘FLOWERS AND BAMBOO’ PORCELAIN VASE, QING DYNASTY
China, 1644-1912. The bulbous body with a long neck and inverted rim, decorated with underglaze blue and iron-red above the glaze to depict a continuous scene of bamboo and peonies. The neck decorated with an ornate border and floral sprays, the interior of the rim with floral sprays. No base.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1990 and has remained in the family ever since.
Condition: The vase slightly shortened at the rim, some wear, such as light surface scratches, a small chip to the rim, and a few manufacturing irregularities.
