A BLANC DE CHINE PORCELAIN FIGURE OF BUDAI, c. 1920s
China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) - Republic Period (1912-1949). The Laughing Buddha is wearing a long, flowing garment open at the chest to reveal his potbelly, holding his characteristic cloth sack, with a joyful face and open mouth, covered to the exterior and interior in a white glaze.
Condition: Very good condition, minor wear, dark spots, and a small firing crack to the foot rim.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1970 and has remained in the family ever since.
