Swiss-born painter and graphic artist who emigrated to Chicago and then North Carolina. He notably created a series of serigraphs called "Mountain Folks" depicting the life of country folk: joyful, simple, but also harsh. Still popular today in North Carolina (Source: Asheville Museum of Art, USA).
