Bowl. Rome, 1st-2nd century AD.
Terra sigillata.
Measurements: 6.5 x 12.3 x 12.3 cm.
Tale made of terra sigillata, a characteristic type of bright red Roman pottery. It is dated from the 1st century BC to approximately the middle of the 3rd century AD. Italic ware was protected by a red non-stick glaze. The later ones are of a higher quality and have a finer, harder paste of a noticeably darker colour, with an ochre or earthy glaze.
