Figure of Isis and Horus. Ancient Egypt, Late Period, circa 747-525 BC.

Provenance: Pierre Bergé, 28-29 May 2008. Lot 505/ Purchased at Bonhams, London, Auction, 2008; Exhibited: Museo Colección Ifergan, Málaga (2018-2020); Feriarte, IFEMA (Madrid, 12-20 November 2022).
Restored sun disc and horn. Footrest incomplete.
Measurements: 29.5 x 12.5 cm.
The goddess is shown seated breastfeeding the infant Horus, wearing the horned lunar disc, the tripartite wig with finely incised details, the close-fitting dress adorned with a wide collar, the naked infant deity depicted with the characteristic braided side tuft of youth and a wide incised collar, seated on her mother's lap, her long, slender feet resting on a rectangular pedestal with the hieroglyphic inscription: "Words to be uttered by Isis the Great to give life to Pa-djaou, son of Iah-ir-dis".
