One Penny Edward VII, Édouard VII (9/11/1841-7/05/1910) was the eldest son of Victoria and Albert of Saxe-Coburg. He succeeded his mother in 1901. Married to Alexandra of Denmark (1844-1925), he had four children, including George V. He signed the Entente Cordiale with France in 1904. Edward VII, also known as Albert Edward, was King of the United Kingdom and British Dominions from 1901 to 1910. He succeeded his mother, Queen Victoria, after her death in 1901. Edward VII is best known for his role in modernizing the British monarchy and for his involvement in European diplomacy. He was also involved in improving relations between the United Kingdom and the United States.
