First edition of this fine work on Paris, amply illustrated with 56 copper-engraved plates, including 3 titles and 3 allegorical frontispieces, portraits of illustrious figures and a large number of vignettes showing buildings and views of the capital. All the engravings are by the painter and engraver François-Nicolas Martinet (1731 - c. 1805). The title changes with volume 2, becoming "Histoire de Paris et description de ses plus beaux monumens".
