Outstanding, magnificent historicism goblet yellow gold and silver, gilded. Domed stepped rising round stand with applied relief sculptural garland of filigree olive branches each ending in a bow. Above four set sapphire cabochons. The narrow shaft at the base with depressed nodus, surrounded by pearl frieze and delicate godrons, in the center with fully sculpted nodus in the form of a lushly filled, naturalistically designed fruit basket, hung on the outside with four small pearls. Above, a tall, floral calyx-like dome of gold divided by delicate pinched vertical features and structures in relief, supported by four representational volutes in fully sculpted putti arranged in a roundelay, ending with raised arms. In the hands, hanging from delicate cords, four matching curved medallions, partly set with glass cabochons. In them the inscriptions "CAREFUL AND LOVING", "WELFAREFUL AND VICTORY", "FROM AND BARMHEARTFUL". One medallion passig replaced. Marked 585, 800, maker's mark. Weight ca. 480 g. H. 24,5 cm. This opulent and at the same time extremely delicately designed goblet by the famous court jeweler, active since 1840, captivates by its detailed and masterfully executed wrought work as well as by the combination of different materials and structures and is thus completely in the tradition of Munich historicism. Among the most important goldsmiths of this period were Theodor Heiden, Anton Weishaupt and Eduard Wollenweber. Cf. An excellent and splendid German Historicism silver goblet with 14 k gold dome, pearls, sapphire cabochons and putti holding four medallions with inscriptions by the Munich court gold and silversmith Theodor Heiden (active since 1840).
