Splendid historicist silver tankard. Domed stand with flared, wavy stand ring and surrounding band of foliage in relief. Cylindrical body with lavish relief worked mythological depiction of a drunken bacchanalian procession with donkey in front of architectural and wooded landscape. On hemispherical hinged lid, surrounded by mascarons and fruit bundles and undulating rim, a fully sculpted seated faun playing panpipes as a knob. The thumb rest decorated with mascaron and openwork volutes. C-shaped curved handle with relief worked herm. Gilded interior. Marks, maker's mark and pseudo-marks. Weight ca. 540 g. H. 21 cm.
