Monogrammed LP on the spine of the book.
The canvas represents the second character head by the very rare painter who signed himself with the monogram LP. The other work initialed LPF (F for Fecit) comes from the Castello Visconti in Somma Lombarda. It passed for sale at Christie's, Rome, auction on December 17, 2003. In 2006 it was exhibited and published, on pages 68 and 69, in the catalog of the exhibition "Fancy Heads of the Venetian Eighteenth Century" sponsored by the Cini Foundation in Venice.
