Meunier, marbled paper boards with gilt fillet, spine decorated with a mosaic design in beige and brown tones featuring flowers covering a cross, gilt title, gilt head, cover and witnesses preserved, in lined slipcase (spine uniformly faded). Etching portrait of Zola on frontispiece (transferred to title). First edition. Edition of 340 numbered copies on hollande (no. 189). Paper lightly and evenly browned, one or two small brown spots in the margin.
