The SASB or commando Ponchardier was created by Admiral Henri Nomy at the end of the Second World War, on the model of the British SAS. Initially intended to fight against the Japanese invasion as part of the CLI, the battalion was eventually engaged against the Vietnminh between 1945 and 1946.
