SAVOIE. Le MATAFAN, organ of the Savoyards of Paris. Published monthly. Journal de savoie published in Annecy by J. Depollier et cie.
19 by 27.5 cm. N°1 to N°40, with N°56. Vintage brown half-chagrin with corners, 5-rib spine, decorated boards, gilt head. Binding in good condition, interior in very good condition. The collection began in September 1891, with N°40 from December 1894.
Each issue is generally 4 pages long, with a section in Savoyard dialect. There is poetry, sometimes satirical, artistic information, news from Savoy, etc.
This copy is packed with various documents:
- Several menus or invitations to the Dinna du Matafan, including one with a poem describing the dishes.
- A manuscript entitled La Chanson du Matafan, signed by César Bouchage.
- A two-sheet manuscript, beginning with : Patiente, ma femme, signed Alex 93.

The Dinna seem to play an important role in the cultural life of Savoyards in Paris.
A unique ensemble. For those unfamiliar with Savoie, MATAFAN is a regional type of potato pancake.
