Full broad-grained chocolate-brown morocco (Maylander). Spine with 5 nerves decorated with a gilt fillet, adorned with gilt caissons surrounding gilt arabesques and a mosaic motif in mustard morocco. Gilt title and date. Quadruple gilt fillet around covers. Large-grained mustard lining. Guard of mustard moire. Double marbled paper endpaper. Double gilt fillet around the edges. All edges gilt. Fresh covers and spines. Chocolate morocco slipcase signed by the bookbinder. Perfect condition.
First edition of Claudel's first play, limited to 100 copies. An innovative conception of the book: no author's name, no title page and no pagination, title on 1st cover and date, publisher's mark and address on 4th.
