RIMBAUD Arthur
MYTHICAL FIRST EDITION
A Season in Hell
Brussels, Alliance typographique (M.-J. Poot et Compagnie), 1873
In-12°, paperback. Some rare, inconsequential foxing in the margins. Copy as issued. In a black morocco spine folder with gilt title and slipcase.
Mythical first edition of the only self-published book by the poet "aux semelles de vent" (with soles of wind), not published commercially. Approximately 500 copies were printed, 425 of which were exhumed by Belgian bibliophile Léon Loiseau in 1901. Rimbaud had failed to pay his debt to the printer, so only a dozen copies were available.
A very fine copy.
